lyrics
Follow the hunger in your eye
To a horizon to a haunted sky
You close your eyes
You’ve come undone again
You thread the thread and feel the needle plunge
Sever the heart
You were abundance in disguise
Thought I saw you in the morning fire
I feel your breath, the fevered air above
A sigh to hide the future you were dreaming of
Wasn’t it you?
Followed the footsteps in the hall
Thought I heard you singing through the wall
I hear the song, it’s just too much to feel
Every day to graze against a wound that never heals
Wasn’t it you?
Birds through my window
Birds in my head
Violent surroundsChasing the word from your hand
All of my life here
Balanced like a circus on a wheel
Wasn’t it you?
Wasn’t it you?
You grazed against a wound that never heals

An incredible combination of melancholic sing-along crooners that always end up with a little bright edge to them. The classic alternative rock sound is here, but somehow wrapped in a candy coating only capable of coming from the Bandcamp era. No misplaced or ill-though-out instrumentation, intriguing but accessible lyrics. The onus is on everyone else to dethrone what is undoubtedly my album of the year so far. It'll take quite a bit to do so. Taylor Thurlow
These songs are beautiful and obviously made with love and care and alertness to weird stray sounds in nature and in machines. I lovvvvvvvvvvvve it. todd_elkin
